Pehta Integrity App
The Pehta Integrity App is a groundbreaking web-based application designed to empower First Nations and Indigenous communities with actionable insights derived from real-world data on the impact created by vendors and suppliers, project owners, project owner representatives, and funding sources. This data, sourced directly from Pehta project reporting, consolidates outcomes related to hiring, procurement, and community contributions, delivering a clear picture of the tangible benefits generated within communities.
The application serves as a powerful tool for First Nations leadership, enabling them to make informed decisions about who should operate within their traditional territories. By highlighting the actual impact created—versus what was promised— Pehta Integrity provides an unprecedented level of transparency and systemic memory. This ensures that decision-makers can hold stakeholders accountable and reward those who genuinely live up to their commitments, while creating incentives for others to align their actions with community priorities.
Why Transparency Benefits Everyone
For Indigenous Communities
Informed Decision-Making: Transparency allows communities to make evidence-based decisions, ensuring that projects and partnerships align with long-term goals for community well-being and economic development.
Accountability: With clear data on outcomes, communities can distinguish between companies that meet their commitments and those that fall short, fostering stronger relationships with reliable partners.
Sustainability: By tracking hiring, procurement, and contributions over time, Pehta Integrity helps preserve systemic memory, so that leadership transitions do not disrupt a community's ability to advocate for its needs and interests.
For Industry
Building Trust: Complete transparency demonstrates a company's commitment to integrity and ethical behavior, which fosters trust and strengthens relationships with Indigenous communities.
Enhanced Credibility: Transparent reporting through Pehta Project reporting provides third-party validation of impact claims, which is increasingly critical in regulatory and investment environments.
Incentives for Improvement: Companies can identify gaps in their impact and take proactive steps to align their practices with community values, improving their reputation and securing future opportunities.
For Both
Alignment of Goals: Transparency bridges the gap between communities and industry, ensuring that both parties work towards mutually beneficial outcomes.
Reduction of Conflict: Clear and accessible data eliminates misunderstandings and reduces the likelihood of disputes, enabling smoother project execution and lasting partnerships.
Shared Success Stories: Pehta Integrity enables the storytelling of impactful projects, which can inspire other partnerships and demonstrate how responsible industry practices benefit everyone involved.
By offering this level of clarity and accountability, integrity creates a virtuous cycle: communities gain the tools to advocate for their priorities, and industries are incentivized to invest in meaningful, measurable impacts. This approach not only uplifts communities but also sets a new standard for collaboration and respect in Indigenous impact reporting.

FAQs
-
Agreeing to the Pehta LP User Agreement grants First Nations and Indigenous Communities unique access to Pehta reporting, including insights on Indigenous Employment, Indigenous Procurement, and the benefits created by projects under three distinct circumstances:
Nation-Funded Projects: Full access to employment, procurement, and benefit data tied to projects financed by the Nation.
Nation-Owned Projects: Comprehensive visibility into the impact metrics of projects owned by the Nation.
Nation-Represented Projects: Access to reporting for projects awarded to businesses or organizations working on behalf of the Nation.
Beyond these categories, Nations can also view employment and procurement data (specific to Nation-owned and partnership spend) and benefit information related to their community, even for projects that do not fall under the three scenarios above. However, this access does not extend to detailed Pehta reports or data related to other Nations involved in these projects.
Additionally, Nations can search for businesses in the Pehta Integrity app, gaining insights into their Indigenous procurement performance, Indigenous employment contributions, and overall Pehta score. This allows Nations to evaluate and build stronger relationships with organizations that genuinely drive meaningful benefits back to their communities.
This level of transparency supports informed decision-making and fosters partnerships that enhance long-term, impactful relationships.

Access to industry data through Pehta is governed entirely by each Nation. Indigenous leadership retains full control over who within their community can view and use the system. Typically, access is granted to:
Elected Leadership: Chiefs and council members responsible for making strategic decisions on behalf of the Nation.
Authorized Personnel in Key Roles: Individuals in positions of authority over economic development, employment, and community benefit initiatives, as directed by Indigenous leadership.
This approach ensures that the system aligns with each Nation's governance structure, empowering them to manage access and use the data in ways that best serve their community's goals and priorities.

The table below illustrates the data each Nation can view on an individual project basis, always presented in the context of their Nation:
Direct Projects (Funded, Owned, or Awarded):
When a Nation funds, owns, or is directly represented in a project through a Nation partner, they have full visibility into all impact data generated by that project. This includes comprehensive details on Indigenous Employment, Indigenous Procurement, and the overall benefits created by the project.Indirect Impact Projects:
For projects not directly linked to the Nation, but where their members are employed or their business has been engaged, Nations can view information about who hired their community members or businesses and the specific project where this employment and procurement occurred. However, no detailed impact information related to other Nations involved in the same project will be accessible.
This structure ensures that Nations have meaningful access to data relevant to their own communities while maintaining confidentiality and respecting the boundaries of information associated with other Nations.

Indigenous Community Access to Your Company Data
Indigenous communities have access to an aggregated historical view of your organization, including metrics on Indigenous procurement, Indigenous employment, and your overall Pehta Score. The Pehta Score is calculated as follows:
(Total Indigenous Employment + Total Indigenous Community Benefits) ÷ (Total Operating Expenses [Procurement + Employment + Benefits])
This score, along with the other metrics, provides communities with an objective measure of the success your organization has achieved in driving meaningful benefits to Indigenous communities.
This represents the level of data resolution Indigenous communities can view about your organization at a broad level.
